ギターは「立てて」保管する
ギターの保管で最も大切なのは、必ず立てて保管することです。
横に寝かせたり、壁にただ立てかけておくだけの保管は避けてください。ネックに偏った力がかかり続けることで、ネックの反りにつながります。ネックが反ると弾きにくくなり、修理が必要になることもあります。
立てて保管する2つの方法
① ギタースタンドを使う
最もオーソドックスな方法です。ギターショップやネット通販で手軽に手に入ります。ボディ下部で支えるタイプが一般的で、安定して立てられます。スタンドにはさまざまな種類があり、吊り下げ式やポータブルタイプも選べます。
② ウォールハンガーで壁に吊るす
壁にフックを取り付けてネックで吊るす方法です。床に置かないぶん転倒リスクが低く、インテリアとしても見栄えがします。設置には壁への穴あけが必要ですが、しっかり固定できれば安定性も十分です。
長期間使わないときはケースに
しばらく弾かない期間が続く場合は、ケースにしまって保管しましょう。ほこりや衝撃からギターを守ることができます。
ケースに入れた状態でも、立てて保管するのが基本です。寝かせて積み重ねると、ケースが重なってネックに負荷がかかることがあります。
置き場所に気をつける
直射日光・高温を避ける
ギターは木材でできているため、熱に弱いです。車のトランクや窓際など、温度が上がりやすい場所への放置は厳禁です。熱でボディの接着剤が剥がれたり、塗装が傷んだりすることがあります。
湿度は40〜60%が理想
木材は湿度の変化に敏感です。
- 乾燥しすぎ（湿度30%以下）→ 木が収縮して割れや反りの原因になる
- 湿気が多すぎ（湿度70%以上）→ カビや膨張、接着剤の劣化につながる
梅雨や冬の乾燥が気になる場合は、ギター用の湿度調整グッズを活用するのもひとつの手です。
※補足：ギタースタンドの素材に注意。ゴム製のスタンドはラッカー塗装のギターと化学反応して、塗装が溶けたり変色したりすることがあります。スタンドを選ぶときは「ラッカー塗装対応」と明記されたものを選ぶと安心です。
Always Store Your Guitar Upright
The most important rule for guitar storage: always keep it upright.
Laying it flat on the floor or just leaning it against a wall may seem harmless, but it puts uneven pressure on the neck over time, which can cause neck warping. A warped neck makes the guitar harder to play and can be expensive to fix.
Two Ways to Store It Upright
① Use a Guitar Stand
The most common option. Guitar stands are affordable and widely available. Most support the body from below and keep the guitar stable and ready to play. Stands come in many styles — including folding portable types and hanging designs.
② Hang It on a Wall
Wall-mounted hooks hold the guitar by the neck and keep it off the floor, reducing the risk of it being knocked over. It also looks great as part of your room decor. You'll need to drill into the wall, but once it's secure, it's a reliable option.
Putting It in a Case for Long-Term Storage
If you're not going to play for a while, store your guitar in its case. This protects it from dust, accidental bumps, and humidity swings.
Even inside a case, store it upright. Laying cases flat and stacking things on top puts pressure on the neck, which defeats the purpose.
Watch Where You Put It
Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat
Guitar bodies are made of wood and are sensitive to heat. Leaving your guitar in a car trunk, near a window, or anywhere that gets hot can cause the body glue to loosen and the finish to crack or bubble.
Aim for 40–60% Humidity
Wood responds to changes in humidity. Too much or too little moisture causes problems:
- Too dry (below 30%) → wood shrinks, leading to cracks and warping
- Too humid (above 70%) → swelling, mold, and glue breakdown
If your climate tends to be very dry or very humid, consider using a guitar humidifier or dehumidifier to keep things in range.
Note: Watch out for rubber-lined guitar stands. The rubber in some stands can chemically react with lacquer finishes and cause the paint to discolor or soften. If your guitar has a lacquer finish, look for a stand labeled as lacquer-safe.
Guarda siempre tu guitarra en posición vertical
La regla más importante para guardar la guitarra: mantenla siempre en posición vertical.
Dejarla tumbada en el suelo o simplemente apoyada contra la pared puede parecer inofensivo, pero ejerce una presión desigual sobre el mástil que con el tiempo puede causar curvatura del mástil. Un mástil torcido hace que la guitarra sea más difícil de tocar y puede ser costoso de reparar.
Dos formas de guardarla en vertical
① Usa un soporte de guitarra
La opción más habitual. Los soportes son económicos y fáciles de encontrar. La mayoría sostienen el cuerpo por la parte inferior y mantienen la guitarra estable y lista para tocar. Los hay de varios tipos: plegables, portátiles y de tipo suspensión.
② Cuélgala en la pared
Los ganchos de pared sujetan la guitarra por el clavijero y la mantienen elevada del suelo, reduciendo el riesgo de que se caiga. También queda muy bien como elemento decorativo. Necesitarás hacer agujeros en la pared, pero una vez bien instalado es una opción muy fiable.
Guardarla en un estuche para almacenamiento prolongado
Si no vas a tocar durante un tiempo, guarda la guitarra en su estuche. Así la protegerás del polvo, los golpes accidentales y los cambios de humedad.
Incluso dentro del estuche, guárdalo en posición vertical. Dejar los estuches tumbados o apilar cosas encima ejerce presión sobre el mástil, lo que anula todo lo anterior.
Elige bien el lugar de almacenamiento
Evita la luz solar directa y el calor
Los cuerpos de guitarra están hechos de madera y son sensibles al calor. Dejar tu guitarra en el maletero del coche, junto a una ventana o en cualquier lugar que se caliente mucho puede hacer que el pegamento del cuerpo se suelte y que el acabado se agriete o se levante.
Busca una humedad de entre el 40 y el 60 %
La madera reacciona a los cambios de humedad. Demasiada o muy poca humedad causa problemas:
- Demasiado seca (por debajo del 30 %) → la madera se contrae y aparecen grietas y deformaciones
- Demasiado húmeda (por encima del 70 %) → hinchazón, moho y deterioro del pegamento
Si tu clima tiende a ser muy seco o muy húmedo, considera usar un humidificador o deshumidificador específico para guitarra.
Nota: Ten cuidado con los soportes de guitarra con recubrimiento de goma. El caucho de algunos soportes puede reaccionar químicamente con los acabados de laca y decolorar o ablandar la pintura. Si tu guitarra tiene un acabado de laca, busca un soporte etiquetado como apto para laca.
